So tired… So very tired…
I’ll try and and do this chronologically.
Friday: Had to get up at 4am for our 7am flight
Thankfully we had no problems at the airport. I brought along two knitting projects to keep me entertained.
The Vegas airport is crazy. They have slot machines right next to the waiting areas and near baggage claim, lol. We heard that most hotels had free shuttles that took you to and from the airport, but we couldn’t find one and had to pay for one.
The other thing I noticed is that you can smoke almost anywhere! YUCK! I am so thankful for Washington’s smoking laws. I swear we were never 3 ft away from a smoker. My allergies were (and still are) killing me. I keep hawking loogies (gross, I know) to try and feel better.
We stayed at Circus Circus cause it was cheap and part of a package we bought from the vegoose website (more on that later). It was an interesting place. There was a huge line to check in (an only 2-3 people at the check in desk!). We requested 1 king bed and got 2 queens instead. We joked about sleeping separately and ended up having a bed each, lol.
We got changed and refreshed and headed out for some lunch. From looking at the maps in the little travel books we brougth with us, things don’t look so far away from each other, WRONG. Currently, they’re in the process of terring down or remodeling the Frontier which is right next the CC so for a good half a mile, there’s nothing to see. Just a big stretch of road and construction machinery. We ate at Strip Burger since it was the first thing we saw and look pretty good. The service sucked and things were overpriced but what we ate was decent.
We were right next to the Fashion Show Mall and decided to check it out. IT’S HUGE!! It might be as bigger or bigger than the MetroTown mall in Canada. Evan found an oxygen bar and wanted to try it so I walked around instead. It just kept going and going. I eventually had to turn back so i didnt’ get too lost. I didn’t buy anything but it was cool to see tons of fancy and designer stores that we don’t have here.
We headed out and just kept walking down the strip. I can’t remember everything we did and saw that day but I think we managed to make it to Treasure Island, the Wynn, and Caesar’s. There’s so much more walking to do once you get inside a hotel. And of course they’re designed to be like mazes so you get drawn into gambling and drinking. I think I spend a buck or two at each place we went. I’d usually double what I fed into the machine but then go buy a drink with my winnings.
We went back to CC to rest for a minute, change and figure out where to go for dinner. We really didn’t want to eat at our hotel because every book we had with us said it was gross and basically cafeteria food. We found a monorail station and rode it down to the Monte Carlo for dinner. We ate too much everywhere we went and my motto for the trip became “if I could just throw up I’d feel so much better”, lol.
I wanted to check out a vegas night club but i was too damn tired at the end of the day. PLUS no casino has a clock on the wall so you have no idea what time it is. By the time we got back to CC it was 1am.
