Wow, I apologize for the major lack of updates. A month can go by quickly, even when you have nothing to do. Let’s see if I can recap.
New Years Eve went well. A friend and I saw Ghostland Observatory at the Showbox (Sodo). I had a really cute outfit. I was all sequin-y
The 31st was also my last day at work. My contract ended and my boss didn’t want to hire me full time. It seemed like my team would really miss me. I miss them too.
So I’ve been without work for over a month now
There’s always an need for a receptionist, or secretary, or admin but most openings don’t pay enough. If the pickin’s are still slim in February, I may buckle and go after a position that pays less.
BUT, in my spare time I’ve been knitting like crazy. I frogged my Tree Jacket that I started back in 2007 and started it from scratch. It took 20 days but I finished the whole thing and made mods to it so it fits wonderfully. I cast on 100 stitches for the neck (to fit my giant head), and decreased quicker for the sleeves so they were more snug. I’ll try and take pictures soon.
I’ve also been keeping busy with concerts.
I took Zac to see Video Games Live at the Paramount. We went to a yummy French Tapas restaurant, Entre Nous, with another couple that were going to the show. I had awesome Parma wrapped asparagus and a pork serloin in some kind of creamy awesome sauce.
The show was ok. It wasn’t worth what I paid for the tickets though. A symphony orchestra and choir played music from classic and new video games. There were a few breaks in the show for a Guitar Hero contest and a Space Invaders contest.
This week has been super busy.
Wednesday I saw Black Light Burns at ElCorazon. It was amazing. It was so cool to see Wes Borland in a small venue. He is crazy on stage and only had a little make up on (not like the LimpBizkit days). I got to shake his hand at the merch table on my way out.
Thursday I saw Matt & Kim at Chop Suey. I had only heard a few of their songs online, but I liked what I heard. They have so much energy on stage! Matt will stand on his piano stool and play at the same time. And Kim will jump on her bass drum and shout their songs. It was also Matt’s birthday and he showed the crowd an awesome robot cake that a fan brought him.
Champagne Champagne played before them and they sucked. I just can’t get into local rap groups. There’s not much else to say about them.
Friday I saw Mark Farina at Neumos. He was really good! The DJ before him was so-so. But there wasn’t much of a crowd to see him so maybe he just wasn’t in the groove. But Farina did an excellent job!
Saturday a friend and I went to the Mercury. I’ve finally become a member and can bring guests with me. It’s such a different experience from a normal night club. They keep the douchbags out and it doesn’t feel like a meat market.
Today is Waffle’s 1st birthday! Atleast her adoption paperwork says that she was born Feb. 1st. She certainly doesn’t look like a puppy anymore (even though she acts like it). I keep telling her she’s the birthday girl today but I don’t think she totally gets it, hehe.
I hate being stuck inside all day but I have a few trips coming up. I get to go to Victoria for a day and check out Zac’s ship. We’re also planning a weekend trip to Portland. I’ve never been in before (which is sad since I’ve been in Washington all my life). I got some travel books from the library and have lots of things planned out. I can’t wait.

Holy cow! It is amazing to be able to drive myself around and go where ever I want to go after being snowed in for a week.
On the 18th the Seattle/Bellevue area got BLASTED with snow. I DON’T drive in the snow so I stayed home from work. I felt awful because I only had another week and a half of my contract left and wanted to get work done.
The 19th didn’t get any better. I woke up to another white, wintery wonderland and saw my neighbor trying to free his car from his parking spot with a hatchet. I stayed home again. Yay for 2 days with no pay
By this point I was starting to go a bit stir crazy. I only went outside to take Waffle for a walk (which she LOVED), and i needed human interaction. Thankfully I had a friend coming over that didn’t mind driving in the snow. We got Thai for dinner and picked up last minute stuff from the store.
Saturday we were able to escape the apt and saw Yes Man. I worried this would end up being Liar Liar 2, but it wasn’t. It was really funny and had a good message. We also got pizza, which makes for great leftovers incase we couldn’t go anywhere else.
Sunday we attempted to go to Ikea but it was totally closed due to the weather. Southcenter mall was still open (for a little while). I got a really cute blue leoppard print sweater from H&M. I’m still trying to dress a little more grown up and this makes me look like a cool alternative librarian. I’m happy with it. Afterwards we went to Acme bowl and played a round. I did terrible, my total was somewhere in the 80s.
By Monday I knew I needed to get to work. Thankfully I was able to catch a ride on Monday & Tuesday and work for a few hours.
Now the roads are so clear I can go anywhere I want. I hate being stranded
Waffle LOVED the snow while it was around. She would dive into big piles and sniff and snort her way around. Big clumps of snow would fly around and she would chase them because she thought it was playing with her. By Saturday there was a crunchy icey layer over everything and her paws would break through the snow with a *thunk*. She thought this was too much work and started stepping any old premade foot print she could find. I loved seeing the snow stick to her nose and whiskers. Even though she is from Taiwan and had never seen snow before, i think she looked at home (or in her element).
With all this free time, I’ve been knitting again! YAY! I found the directions to my Wisteria sweater and picked it back up. One sleeve is finished and i’m 1/2 way through the 2nd. It should be done in no time. I really wish I made it one size bigger but it’s too late at this point. I still think it looks nice.
Tomorrow is going to be nuts. It’s my last day at work and New Years Eve. I bought my Ghostland Observatory tickets at the end of October and have been waiting for this night. A friend from out of town is coming with me and we almost had ticket issues. They called me on Sunday to say they couldn’t get tickets from ticketmaster. I checked the Showbox’s website to findout it was sold out! Thanfully, when in doubt, check Craigslist
A few people were selling tickets for little to no mark up. I arranged to meet a guy at Dicks on Monday and bought my friend a ticket.
I also have a sweet outfit planned. I bought sequined covered converse and a sequined top. I’ll be a human disco ball!
Happy New Year.

Last weekend really made up for all the sitting around we did last weekend.
Friday Zac and I saw Slumdog Millionaire. I don’t know why this movie isn’t showing in more places than Bellevue and 1 theater in Seattle. It’s great! Of course everything works out in the end but it’s a great journey to see how the main character gets there. Go see this!
Saturday I took Zac to XXX Rootbeer in Issaquah since he had never been. I thought by getting their early we would avoid the tables of large families with noisy kids. No such luck L. But I think we were able to tune out the loud kids and have a good time.
Though, once we got back home, I discovered Waffle had been a bad girl. I recently took all the pillow covers off of my Ikea couch and washed them, so they were all nice and white/cream. I’ve been putting a blanket on the couch to see if Waffle sits on it while I’m gone. I did this before we left for lunch. When we got home I found the blanket crumpled on the ground and the middle, back couch cushion on the ground! She somehow UNZIPPED the cover, removed the cushion inside, ripped a hole in it , and started removing the stuffing!! BAD GIRL!!! She got a very stern talking to.
I realize at this point that I need to get her a large crate to keep her in during the day. It breaks my heart to do it but I can’t have her chewing on stuff.
We headed over to Seattle after picking up the couch fluff and went to the Urban Craft Uprising. I’ve never got to go to this before. Zac was even looking forward to it. I ended up buying:
a skein/cone of yarn from Yarnia.
A t-shirt from Spin Cycle Yarn. Their yarn is breathtaking! I was in awe of so many colors but couldn’t afford to get any at the moment.
the Skull a Day book by Noah Scalin. He was even around to sign it! I only found out about this site in the last month or so and had no idea he would be at the event. Such a coincidence.
Some skeleton hair clips from Spooky Mama Creations.
Zac ended up with a new jacket, some magnets, postcards, a gift for his mom, and some amazing art work. He even bought me a print that I’m totally going to frame soon. I love it!
Check out Berkley Illustrations (through that link). He is AMAZING! I will definetly be ordering more stuff from him.
There was just so much cool stuff I can’t list it all here.
I also got to meet the author of Imps and Monsters. A few months ago I had bought 5 of this guys prints. I love his artwork!! Sadly I didn’t buy anything from his booth this time. Had I known he would be there I would have saved some money. But I tell him I was a huge fan and Zac backed me up.
We headed home to unload and get ready to meet some friends for pool. We went to Jillian’s. I had never been there before. It’s kind of like Game Works but with more pool tables and for adults only. I really suck at pool so we played in teams so others could help me win.
Sunday we went to Lunchbox Lab since Zac will be gone for a few weeks and likes that place so much! Now, I’m a fan of bacon. I don’t keep kosher and grew up on bacon and pork. I’ve always thought you can’t go wrong with too much bacon on anything. That day I was wrong. My burger had so much bacon on it I had to pick some off and just focus on the beef. I felt SO BAD! How can I let good bacon go to waste. I’m sorry everyone, I was just too full.
We had some time to kill so we waddled around Ballard. Zac didn’t think Ballard was cool until I took him on a tour, lol. I took him to my favorite places like Gifted and Monster.
Luckily the Sunday market was still running, even though it was crappy weather out. I stumbled upon a booth for the store PunControllable. They were the creators of a t-shirt that I’ve been dying to own! It’s a stencil of Morrissey’s face and says “The Morrissey of you, the less I like you”. I found out about it from the Stranger’s auction in this year’s StrangerCrombie. I LOVE THIS SHIRT.
Afterwards I met some of Zac’s friends and we saw Quantum of Solace at the newly improved Cinerama (though I’ve never been to the old one). I’m not really a James Bond fan but I was able to follow along and still like the car chase scenes and on foot chase scenes. Daniel Craig isn’t bad to look at for 2 hours either.
So it was a very impulse buying filled weekend but i loved it.

4 days of no work and I sat around for a good 75% of it! It wasn’t planned though.
Wednesday after work I headed over to Zac’s to find out he had developed a cold. He didn’t seem too sick at the moment so I stuck around. We had tickets to see Henry Rollins that night too.
I’ve never seen Rollins live before. It was really cool. It was funny, serious, and educational all at the same time. He is always in this semi-attack stance while on stage. It must come from years of punk rock shows. He looks like he’s ready to pounce at any second. It’s amazing how busy he keeps himself. He says he doesn’t like down time. He goes around the world (when he’s not giving a speech) and just walks around talking to strangers, asking them their thoughts about America, the current state of the government (their & ours), and other current events. He’s just trying to unite the world one person at a time. It’s really courageous.
Thursday we (mostly Zac) slept in and waited for Thanksgiving dinner. Plus EVERYTHING is closed that day so there really is NOTHING to do. I kept getting text after text from friends seeing what I was up to that weekend but I brushed everyone off (sorry). I’m so amazingly broke that I needed to lock myself inside and not spend any money on anything. That evening we headed out to 13 Coins for dinner with my mom. It was kind of a big deal since Zac was meeting her for the first time. Things went well. They talked about diving most of the time (a hobby of both).
Friday we (Zac again) slept some more, just trying to get better. I was getting worried because I was developing some sniffles and a scratchy throat. Thankfully that boy has THE BEST cable package ever so I watched movie after movie all morning. Something wasn’t sitting right with Zac’s tummy and he hurled that afternoon, and slept more. That evening I talked him into finding real food and we headed over to Piccolo’s (where he hadn’t been yet) and got pizza. We wandered around Scarecrow Video afterwards (another place he hasn’t been). Neither of us has an account there so we just browsed. We avoided the Black Friday craziness since I can’t afford ANYTHING and he wasn’t feeling well.
Saturday we went to Kauai Family Restaurant in Georgetown for breakfast/lunch. I’ve never been to a Hawaiian restaurant before. The Crispy Ginger Chicken I had was very good. We also went to the Elliot Bay Book Co. I’d never been here for some reason. I found a 2009 calendar for my purse. I’m so particular about my planners, I had to find the perfect one! I found a cute shiny silver notebook (for my purse) and Zac & I created lists of places the other one hasn’t been to yet so we’ll always have something to do.
Later I had to head home for clean clothes. I also received the DVD of the pictures that were taken last week. I don’t like any of them. I could be a bit harsh on myself too. I am my biggest critic. I’m just going to put the disc away for a while and think about it. I feel defeated. It makes me not want to pursue this dream of mine. Why spend the $500 on Burlesque School if I can’t do something as simple as take a good picture? But I have time to think. I’m just bummed.
Sunday we managed to get out of the house by 11:30! We headed over to Capitol Hill to go to the Honey Hole for lunch. (check one off Zac’s list). That night we had tickets to see The Decemberists. I was so excited!!! Zac was only able to get 1st balcony seats which were 1st come, 1st serve. We got OK seats. You could see the band pretty well.
Colin changed guitars about 20 times, lol. They use so many different instruments, it’s amazing. They played all the good songs: Engine Driver, Dracula’s daughter, Crane Wife (during the encore), Chimbley Sweep, etc. During the last song they invited all the lucky jerks in the front to come on stage and sing too, lol.
My biggest complaint were the girls behind us. They obviously thought they were the biggest fans, yet didn’t get tickets soon enough and had to sit upstairs, NOR did they get there early enough to get good seats. So they proceeded to (what they thought was sing along) yell along with almost every song. I swear I’m a douche magnet when it comes to concerts. No matter where I sit/stand, I get the best concert going douche next/near to me.
My big news for today was that I booked my hostel stay for the San Diego Comic-Con. I’m not sure what hit me but I thought, what the heck. I called the same downtown hostel I stayed out last time and they had NO private rooms left! (and it’s only mother f’ing January!!) I settled for an all girls dorm room. This will save me majorly on rooming costs. I will plan for airfare after the 1st of the new year. I don’t know if I’ll have a job then so I’ll save some money. Plus it doesn’t cost me to book the room, I can always cancel if need be. This will be a big adventure for me if no one tags along.

It feels like it’s Thursday, maybe because tomorrow is technically my Friday. I love 4 day weekends
Friday Zac and I had Thai and watched Tropic Thunder at his friend’s house.
Saturday was a big day for me. I got up at 7 to be at the doctor’s at 8. I was in a hurry so I didn’t eat anything before I left. Since I was going to Camano for food anyway, why bother, right? I had some bloodwork done at the Dr.’s and while they were drawing blood I fainted!
I’ve never fainted before but somehow I knew what was going on and was able to warn the lab gal that i was blacking out. I’m not sure how long I was out for but i dreamt I was on an airplane. Two staff members rushed in and asked if i was ok and what had happened. I couldn’t hear anything for a few seconds but explained i hadn’t eatten breakfast (silly, I know!) but i was ok. They gave me a juicebox and had me sit for a while since I was driving.
I had Waffle in the car since we were leaving for Camano right afterwards, but she was doing ok. We headed to McDonalds so I wouldn’t crash on the way there, lol.
She went the whole trip (2 hours driving total) with out barfing!! She drooled like no one’s business, but thankfully no barf! She loves to run around dad’s backyard. I know she misses the freedom of a yard
She attempted to play with Angel and Sophie but they just don’t like her anymore.
The whole purpose for going to Camano was a Pre-Thanksgiving lunch/dinner. Our family is so big now it’s hard to coordinate with everyone. I was able to talk with my grandparents and my brother for about an hour before I had to head home.
I rushed home to get ready for my team’s holiday party. Since I’m not a full time employee I wouldn’t normally get to go but I was invited by another team member who didn’t have a date. It was nice of her to ask me. I got all gussied up and headed over to Hotel 1000 where the party was. The food was really good! There was fake gambling, pool, and dancing. I meant to leave around 10:30 but got sucked into conversation with a team member, played pool and danced a bit, and ended up back at home around 2am! And i had to get up by 8 to head to seattle to see a friend.
Sunday Zac and I went to Easy Street Records for their 20th anniversary. They were selling everything at 20% off. I managed to find:
Rick Astley (only $5!! now I can Rick-Roll whenever I want!)
The Presets: Apocalypso (only $3! I already had this on my iPod, but wanted the disc)
The Smiths: The Sounds of the Smiths (2 disc) [why must they continue to make Smiths compliations? You end up owning every song they've ever made 3 times over. Yet i continue to buy them]
Morrissey: The Best of Morrissey
Reel Big Fish: Cheer Up!
Ministry of Sound: The Annual 2006 (just adding to my collection)
Hell Boy (1)
Persepolis (I haven’t seen yet this but it looks really good)
so $88 (even) later, I was totally shopped out.
We also went and saw Zac & Miri Make a Porno. It was good.
I’m totally a spoiler here (so be warned), for those who have a crush on Jason Mewes, you get to see his junk. He has had a lot of tattoo work done since the last time I saw him! He use to have a crappy Droopy Dog on his shoulder but it looks like it has been covered up with tons of black work now. And his voice sounds different. I wonder if all the smoking is catching up with him.
Tomorrow night i get to see Henry Rollins for the first time ever. I’m not sure what to expect but I’m sure it will be good. Then we go to the Decemberists a few days afterwards. I am unbelievably stoked for this show. I just started listening to them a few weeks ago and I’m hooked. I didn’t think I was going to make it to this show but Zac is my saviour and had an extra ticket (I <3 him, lol).
I also plan to catch up on sleep, sometime soon.
